Overview

Chopta Valley is set at a height of 2,680 metres, away from the hustle and bustle of city life, and is surrounded by an imposing forest of oak, deodar, and rhododendron that shadow a rich bed of floral plants. The Chandrashila Summit Trek is known for the magnificence of its Himalayan peak. The Chandrashila Summit Trek, one of the most magnificent hikes in the Garhwal Himalayan area, takes you through lovely meadows and unpaved routes. When you reach the summit, you'll be rewarded with a breathtaking panorama of Himalayan peaks like as Nanda Devi (7,817 metres), Trishul (7,120 metres), Kedarnath (6,831 metres), Bandarpunch (6,316 metres), and Chaukhamba (7,138 metres).

Itinerary

We wake up early to go to Sari village, passing via Devprayag and Rudraprayag. The trail follows the Ganges till it reaches Devprayag, the confluence of the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers. We continue down Alaknanda all the way to Rudraprayag, where Alaknanda and Mandakini meet. In his book "The Man-Eating Leopard of Rudraprayag," renowned big cat hunter Jim Corbett mentions Rudraprayag. He was successful in locating the leopard who was responsible for the deaths of around 125 people in the area. The Mandakini River is traced upstream from here. At the early evening, we arrive in Sari. For the night, tents were erected up near the neighbourhood.

On this day, we begin our journey up the hill to Deoria Tal. The trail leads to a hill dotted with rhododendrons above the village. Deoria Tal is a small lake with grassland surrounding it. The views of the mountain ranges from here are spectacular. The Chaukhamba mountain appears to be mirrored in the clean water at times. Because the hike is short, it is possible to spend the day relaxing in the peaceful forest and taking short excursions around the lake.

The hike for today is very level and passes through some wonderful forest and meadows. The trek begins at the forest department cottages at Deoriatal. It enters the forest and soon reaches a ridge from which we can see the Sari town far down on our right. We'll return to the forest from here. Rhododendron blooms bloom in the spring, providing the sense of meandering through a park. The colours range from red to pink and come in a variety of tints. If we go hiking in the winter, there may be snow in the dreary areas. There are two options for camping: beside a stream just outside of Chopta or on the meadows below the Chopta shops.

We'll get started early today. From the magnificent surroundings of Chopta, we go up the road via the arch to the temple. The path is paved, with railings in certain places. The monal bird is occasionally sighted in the woods on the trail's left side. The monal, a pheasant species, is Uttarakhand's state bird. Chopta is a 2-kilometer trek from Tungnath. Only a few hundred metres of the temple can be seen. Following our visit to the old temple, we proceed up the mountain. We started off for Chopta in the late afternoon after soaking in the stunning panoramic vista of the Himalayas from Chandrashila.

We may visit the Omkareshwar temple in Ukhimath on this day. It's where the Kedarnath temple's idol spends the winter. We travel back to Dehradun and arrive in the late afternoon.
