Overview
There are a few hikes that provide a range of experiences while yet being overlooked, one of which being the Bali Pass trek. The walk travels through Yamunotri, which is one of Hinduism's Char Dham Yatras. The trek will take you through the Har Ki Dun valley as well as the Ruinsara valley. The Bali Pass peak, which rises to a height of 16,207 feet, is one of the high altitude summits. The Bali Pass is for those who like to trek on less-traveled pathways and do things a little differently.
Itinerary
From Mussoorie, we'll drive to Sankri. Along the way, make a pit stop for lunch. This is a scenic route that begins with the Yamuna River and concludes with the Tons River. Today's excursion includes some really stunning pine woodland sections. We'll check into a lovely hotel/tent in Sankri and rest for a bit. Take an evening stroll around this picturesque hamlet to re-energize your muscles for the next day's hike. Sankri is where you'll be spending the night.
We start the day with a brief, gorgeous, and exciting journey to Taluka, the beginning site of our walk. The journey today takes you through a beautiful mixed woodland and along the Supin River. The grade is mostly gentle, with a few steep sections tossed in for good measure. This region is fortunate to have a very old and distinct culture that has been preserved. You'll get an up-close and personal look at it today. You'll meet folks from adjacent towns and witness some of the area's distinctive architectural splendour while walking the route. On our route to Seema, a tiny market town, we'll drive via a few villages. We'll set up camp ahead of Seema in the beautiful fields by the river, and we'll spend the night in the tents.
The Supin River is still followed by the path today. Debshu Bugyal is the first checkpoint, from where we can see Kala Nag, or Black Top, in all its splendour. After crossing Debshu Bugyal, we'll descend through the forest with loose stones and a sandy route to the river. We'll cross the Supin River on a bridge. After crossing the bridge, we'll re-ascend, this time with the Supin river on our right. There are a few of problematic spots with a slick route where we'll have to detour. We'll keep going down the river until we reach our riverside campground, where you may stay the night.
Today is the last day of our Supin River trek. We'll be at Ruinsara Tal by the afternoon. Ruinsara is a lovely lake with rhododendron plants and meadows surrounding it. The path is not difficult, but it is tiring. We'll be staying in tents at Thange's campground, which is beautiful. The view from the campsite is really breathtaking. The pass leading to Yamunotri, Yamuna Kanta, is located to the south-west of Ruinsara Tal and is rated as a challenging hike. To the east, the spectacular Banderpooch Peak may be found (6,387 m).
A day of relaxation, acclimatisation, and exploration is required in Thange Camp. The pure lake, framed by reeds, and the warm sun appear to be hypnotic. Explore this stunningly gorgeous spot, which provides close-up views of the majestic Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Dhumdhar Kandi, and the White Top. We're going sightseeing in Kyarkoti today, where we'll visit some of the most magnificent meadows. At Thange Camp, we'll spend the night in tents.
We've finally begun our ascent to the summit of Bali Pass. The final section of the walk includes a rocky route with boulders. Starting at Bali Udiyari and finishing at Bali Pass, the grade will be high. We arrive at the Bali Pass after a couple of hours of climbing. From this vantage point, you can see the Swargarohini, Banderpooch, and Garhwal ranges, as well as the underlying Yamnotri valley
The most thrilling and demanding section of the hike occurs after crossing the Bali Pass. We'll descend the virtually vertical road, which is littered with huge stones and scree. After this segment, we'll be on the goat road, which will be a lot more arduous trip. After this really difficult phase, we will arrive at the camp. After completing this exceedingly difficult section of the journey, we will arrive at Damni and set up camp in tents for the night.
To get to the Jankichatt road-head, we'll start trekking today from Damini. We stop to pay our respects to the heavenly Yamunotri temple along the road. You'll arrive at Jankichatti after around 4-5 hours of trekking. From here, we'll board a car and be driven to Dehradun. The adventure comes to a close, and you'll be on your way to your next destination.
